The excellent level of comfort the E-Class Estate offers extends to its luggage compartment, too – something which you notice as soon as you open the tailgate. Thanks to a host of standard and optional equipment it is possible to transport even bulky objects with ease and safety.

The optional automatic EASY-PACK tailgate works on an electrohydraulic principle. It can be opened at the touch of a button from the driver’s door, using the button on the tailgate or the button on the ignition key. The tailgate is closed using a switch on the tailgate. If an object prevents the tailgate from closing, the process stops automatically.

The EASY-PACK load compartment cover protects the load from sunlight and prying eyes. If the tailgate is opened or closed, the load compartment cover automatically moves upwards or downwards.

Integrated in the load compartment cover is a safety net which separates the luggage compartment from the passenger compartment.

The EASY-PACK load-securing kit (available as an optional extra) ensures the items in the load compartment are secured firmly. A telescopic bar, which attaches to variable points on two cargo rails, allows the load compartment to be divided into different zones. A retractable belt also lets you secure round objects to the sides.

The additional EASY-PACK load compartment floor with plastic tub (the latter optional for the CLASSIC line, standard for the ELEGANCE and AVANTGARDE lines) helps you keep things tidy in the Estate – for example dirty items can be stowed separately. The optional EASY-PACK stowage box is located behind the rear seat backrests.
