A 5-speed automatic transmission is available as a standard equipment for the E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY. Gentle and short shift operation makes for high ride comfort and optimum dynamism.

The 6 and 8-cylinder models comes as standard with the 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The seven forward gears of the 7G-TRONIC allow for a larger ratio spread between lowest and highest gears and smaller intervals from gear to gear. This provides a constantly optimised rpm level, lower fuel consumption and virtually imperceptible shift operation. For faster mid-range sprints the 7G-TRONIC can skip several gears thanks to the multiple downshift function.

With the standard-fit DIRECT SELECT shift paddles n conjunction with the sports package and the M mode it is possible to change gears without taking your hands off the steering wheel. The location of the selector lever on the steering wheel also creates additional stowage space under the centre console as there is no shift gate there.
